New Mexico State University Presents: Starting a Food Business Workshops

AUDIENCE: Farmers market vendors and small scale food processors, startup companies. Limited to 25 people per location!

GOALS: Participants understand regulations concerning commercial food processing; participants understand the process to market food products; participants understand challenges of a food business and using a business plan as a management tool.

 

COST: $25.00 per person for workshop materials, breaks, light lunch.

 

NMSU Extension Specialists Nancy Flores and Michael Patrick, and NM Food agency specialists will present the following AGENDA from 8:30 am to 4:00pm:

Food safety SOUP and microbiology

FSMA implementation: FDA Produce rule and Preventative Controls rule

Getting Gramma's recipe to market

Product evaluation and Labeling

Navigating permitting process

Lunch

Food business shortfalls

Business plan development

Ready set go! Group discussion on first steps

Q/A evaluation end of program
